Here's the story behind this:
It's Light's 23rd Birthday. After everyone leaves, L decides to give Light his present. L did extensive research on the art of birthday gifts, and has chosen a very traditional route; a spanking. Done out of love, this (in western cultures) is where someone close to the birthday-person and older than them gives them a spanking, with the number of swats matching their number of years lived...and one extra swat for luck! This spanking ensures that they behave for the next year(it's usually only done for children, though...).
It's stupid, I know, but L's trying to be a 'good friend.' >w<
